Suns dog's barking got louder and louder, like a sick chicken trying to cry for help. I threw the piece of wood aside and cursed under my breath.

Damn it, why did this have to happen? I was just taking a walk after work, thinking about the yummy braised pork rice I was going to eat when I got home. What was I supposed to do? Run around like a headless fly just because some old house was collapsed?

I sighed and walked to the edge of the collapsed house. The brick wall was still there, but the pillars on both sides were already gone, and the entire front half of the house had turned into a mess. Dust and debris were everywhere, and the air was full of the smell of wood and bricks.

Suddenly, there was a loud noise from the other side of the street. I looked over and saw that a construction vehicle was driving over a pile of rubble, and then I heard a loud bang.

At first, I thought nothing of it. Construction sites were noisy anyway. But then I heard another loud bang, and then the streetlights ahead of me suddenly went out.
